Visiting A Quinta
We invite you to come and visit A Quinta to see all that you read here on this website in practice. As we are a working farm visits are on appointment or on open days. Day visits will give you a taste of the project and some of the systems we have and are implementing. To really connect with what is happening here and to experience the vibe of nature and community living, I would deeply recommend to come and stay for at least 2 weeks,
HOW TO GET TO A QUINTA
From Lisbon: Take the Rede Express (www.rede-expressos.pt) bus towards Lagos. This bus leaves the bus station next to Jardim Zoologico Metro station at 17.30 and stops in Sao Luis at 20.10, where we will be able to collect you.
From Faro: Take the train from Faro to Lagos, then the following morning you can take the Rede Express bus (www.rede-expressos.pt) from Lagos bus station towards Lisbon which leaves 8.30 and stops at the Sao Luis bus stop at 10.15, where we will be able to collect you.
Staying at A Quinta
To experience the project from within. To feel and really see what is happening here and to become part of it's essence we recommend staying at A Quinta. It is possible to stay as a guest for a minimum length of 3 nights. Besides acquiring a feeling of what the project is about, you will be able to enjoy the enchanting nature surrounding us with wildlife such as wild boar, hawks, owls, egyptian mongoose, an orchestra of frogs and more. Or visit the nearby wild and beautiful atlantic coast with it's quaint white washed villages with orange trees and smiling faces of the friendly locals. You can read more about staying as a guest here.
Besides staying as a guest it is possible to stay as a volunteer or by taking part in workshops or intensives we have planned. Please see the PROGRAMS page for more information on these options.
Accommodation is in guest rooms, dormitory rooms, the treehouse, yurts or on site camping (tents and small vans only) and include three wholesome shared meals per day.
The meals we offer are omnivore and vegetarian (with as much organic home grown produce as possible) You are very welcome to take part in the cooking to get to know other people and the energy of the farm. If you have dietary requirements, you will need to bring your own food to supplement.
We are located in the Alentejo region of Portugal, 25 mins from the coastal town of Vila Nova de Milfontes and it's beautiful unspoiled atlantic coast line. There are two hiking paths nearby, the Rota Costa da Vicentina has a coastal hiking path and nearby our farm the inland hiking path (also possible by mountain bike) passes towards Santiago da Cacem.
For sporty guests it is possible to take surfing lessons or rent surfing gear in Milfontes, go canoeing down the river Mira, mountain biking in the local surroundings, or go on horse riding trails. We are happy to arrange this on request.
