Regenerative Co-Living in Alentejo, Portugal
Live, Grow and Regenerate – Together
Imagine waking up with the sound of birds, a golden sunrise over rolling hills, and your bare feet touching the earth before your first coffee. At A Quinta da Lage, this isn’t a weekend escape - it’s your daily rhythm. Nestled in the heart of the Alentejo region, our regenerative co-living project invites individuals who want to live meaningfully, off the grid, and in harmony with nature.
This isn’t just co-living - it’s co-creating a better world. With nature as our teacher, and co-working and -living as our foundation, we regenerate soil, soul, and society.
What is Regenerative Co-Living?
Regenerative co-living means sharing life in a way that gives back - to each other and the earth. Unlike conventional shared housing, it’s not only about living together but regenerating the land, practicing conscious communication, and co-building a lifestyle that is rooted in care.
At A Quinta da Lage, we combine co-housing, permaculture, eco-building, and community facilitation to create an environment where growth happens - internally and externally.
Why Alentejo?
Alentejo is Portugal’s wild, slow-beating heart. With cork forests, open skies, and space to breathe, it’s one of the last places in Europe where land and time still feel abundant.
Our 132-hectare regenerative farm is nestled near São Luís, just a short drive from the Atlantic coast and the Rota Vicentina’s Pilgrims Trail. Here, you find connection - to nature, to self, to others.
Life at A Quinta da Lage
Your Living Space
Choose from a variety of natural dwellings:
Private eco-cottages & Tiny Houses (Casa da Colina, Casa do Pomar & Casa do Louro)
Shared living in Casa do Louro & Casa do Pomar
Glamping in a yurt or a handmade treehouse
Each space is unique, hand-built or restored with care, and fully off-grid with shared compost toilets, shared solar showers, and natural materials.
Your Daily Rhythm
Life here is intentional yet free. Residents co-shape their days with a mix of:
Personal work (remote jobs, writing, art, keeping the space clean, rest)
Community projects (gardening, eco-construction, cooking)
Learning spaces (permaculture, communication, ecology)
Connection time (morning check-ins, yoga, shared meals, movie nights)
This isn’t a retreat - it’s a lived, evolving experience.
Regenerative Practices We Live By
Permaculture
Our food forests, vegetable gardens, and keyline water systems follow permaculture principles - working with nature rather than against it. Whether you’re planting seeds, mulching a bed, or harvesting your own dinner, you’ll experience real ecological systems in action.
Holistic Grazing & Soil Restoration
Animals play a vital role on the land. Our holistically managed sheep help restore compacted soils ,boost fertility, increase bio diversity, improve water infiltration in the fields.
Water Wisdom
All our water comes from rain or spring-fed sources. We use dry composting toilets and treat greywater with plant-based systems. Living here means learning water stewardship by doing.
Natural Building
From lime plaster to roundwood framing, we restore and build with sustainable, local materials. Residents can get hands-on experience in eco-building and learn techniques that apply beyond the farm.
Who is This For?
You don’t need to be a farmer, yogi, or permaculture pro. What matters most is your willingness to show up - as you are - and contribute.
